Supported Configurations for WebLogic Platform 8.1
|
|
This section includes the following topics:
In addition to the support provided by all WebLogic Platform products described in WebLogic Platform Support for Databases, WebLogic Server provides support for application connectivity and communication with any database management system using a JDBC driver that meets the following requirements:
setAutoCommit() and setTransactionIsolation(), when used in transactionally aware environments, such as for EJBs. Note the following restrictions:
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/index.html.For information on supported the database drivers that are installed with WebLogic Server, see:
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/oracle/index.html.http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/mssqlserver4/index.html.For more information about configuring WebLogic Server with drivers from third-party vendors, see Using Third-Party Drivers with WebLogic Server in Programming WebLogic JDBC.
For more detailed information about using JDBC drivers in applications, see Programming WebLogic JDBC.
When WebLogic Server features use a database for internal data storage, database support requirements are more restrictive than for application connectivity. The following WebLogic Server features require internal data storage:
See List of Supported Databases for WebLogic Platform 8.1, by Release.
For WebLogic Server 8.1 SP4, BEA provides a patch that supports Oracle9i RAC and Oracle 10g RAC for the use of MultiPools, with or without XA transactions.
Note: The MultiPool Patch is supported by WebLogic Server 8.1 SP4 only; it is not supported by any other WebLogic Platform component products.
The MultiPool Patch enables WebLogic JDBC MultiPools to be used with either Oracle9i RAC or 10g RAC to support connection pool failover and load balancing for applications using XA transactions and Oracle RAC.
This patch is compatible with non-XA usage, and incorporates support previously delivered in the WebLogic Platform 8.1 SP4 patch for Oracle9i RAC connect-time failover.
The MultiPool Patch is available for downloading at:
http://dev2dev.bea.com/wlserver/patch/wls81sp4_MP_OracleRAC_patch.html
Note: For information about configuring your system with Oracle9i or 10g RAC, see "Using WebLogic Server with Oracle RAC" in Programming WebLogic JDBC:http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/jdbc/oracle_rac.html
Certain WebLogic Platform products, specifically WebLogic Workshop, WebLogic Portal, WebLogic Integration, and WebLogic Server Process Edition use databases stores for product runtime data. WebLogic Platform and these products support only the databases and the database drivers specified in the "Database Support" sections in this document for this purpose. For example, see the supported database versions and drivers for WebLogic Platform 8.1 SP5 in Database Support for WebLogic Platform 8.1 SP5.
In addition, WebLogic Platform provides support for application connectivity and communication with databases as follows:
Note: Some programming productivity features in the WebLogic Workshop IDE only support the databases and JDBC drivers specified in the "Database Support" sections in this document.
http://e-docs.bea.com/wladapters/rdbms/docs812/index.html.WebLogic Platform requires the following database-specific resources:

The following table lists the databases supported by each release of WebLogic Platform 8.1.x.
Note: The following table is provided only to show which databases are supported by the various 8.1 releases of WebLogic Platform. Details, including information about available patch levels, are provided in service pack-specific tables. Bug ID 4010945, reported for Oracle 10g R1, has been resolved in 10g R2. Note to users of WebLogic Portal 8.1 SP6: As described in Oracle Note 317258.1, Oracle changed their use of predefined database roles in the 10g R2 version to provide more security. The CONNECT role now provides only CREATE SESSION privileges; the other associated privileges have been removed. Therefore, you must now explicitly grant the CREATE VIEW privilege for Oracle 10g R2 databases. (CR252362) |

PointBase Server is an all-Java DBMS product included in the WebLogic Platform distribution solely for evaluation purposes, either in the form of custom trial applications or through packaged sample applications provided with WebLogic Platform. Non-evaluation development or other use of the PointBase Server requires that a separate PointBase Server license be obtained by the end user directly from DataMirror. WebLogic Integration, WebLogic Portal, and WebLogic Workshop do not support PointBase for production server deployments. |
