Web Servers

This section lists Web servers supplied by third-party vendors that are supported by WebLogic Server 9.0.

Web server plug-ins, delivered with WebLogic Server, enable WebLogic Server to communicate with applications that have been deployed on a different Web server. For details about Web server plug-ins, see Using Web Server Plug-Ins with WebLogic Server at the following URL:

Table 2-1 lists the supported Web servers and the operating systems on which they can be run. It is not necessary to run a Web server on the same machine on which you run WebLogic Server 9.0.

Browsers and Plug-Ins

Browsers are used for a variety of purposes, such as allowing end users to access WebLogic Server applications and enabling administrators to use the WebLogic Server console. The following sections list the browsers supported for WebLogic Server 9.0 and the requirements for whichever browser plug-in you use:

Browser Support for End-User Applications

WebLogic Server 9.0 supports the following Web browsers:

You may also want to build support for browsers not listed above to support functionality beyond simple end-user access into your own applications. To do so, be sure to follow best practices when implementing features targeted for use with the browsers in question.

Browser Support for WebLogic Server

Note: If you use a browser version that is not listed as a supported browser in the following sections, you may experience functional or formatting problems.

Browser support for WebLogic Server is dependent on the browser version, the client operating system for the console, and the Java plug-in for applet support.

The following sections summarize browser support for WebLogic Server:
